To stars such as David Jason, Helen Mirren, Michael
Caine and Greta Scacchi, their hand made bathrobes are the last word in
luxury.
Now visitors to the Ideal Home Exhibition
have the chance to wrap themselves in the same kind of comfort.
A range of designer bathrobes like those
used by the celebrities was launched yesterday on stand 1044 at
the Earls Court Show.
They are made in thick cotton towelling
in a wide range of colours and sizes by the Covent Garden Bathrobe
Company, which has a regular stall at Covent Garden Craft Market
in Central London.
The company, established 20 years
ago, has built up a large clientele in the acting profession and
counts several opera singers among its customers, including Placido
Domingo.
Company owner Colin Lloyd said: 'Our
bathrobes are very popular because they are built to last. They
have strong double seams and we use very thick luxury towelling.
Every one is handmade and we often get special requests from clients.
We once produced extra large bathrobes for some sumo wrestlers
who visited Britain - that took a lot of towelling indeed.'
